The Swakopmund Hotel is a converted turn of the century railway station in the centre of Swakopmund, Namibia's popular seaside resort. The 90 air conditioned rooms are decorated in simple, light colours and have blackout drapes. Furnished in light wood and cane, rooms offer cable television and high speed Internet connections, as well as minibars and designer toiletries.
The Captain's Tavern Restaurant serves locally caught seafood, while the Platform 1 restaurant serves a la carte and buffet menus in a Victorian style train station setting with black and white tiled floor. After a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool, guests can head for the bar for drinks and cocktails. Further evening entertainment at the complex includes the Mermaid Casino with 200 slot machines and 34 poker machines, as well as nine tables including Roulette, Blackjack and Oasis or Stud Poker. The adjoining entertainment centre has a cinema, a range of shops and a fully equipped gym, and there is a games room for children. The concierge can arrange local excursions such as camel riding and paragliding, and local attractions, including the lighthouse and aquarium, are within one kilometre. From Swakopmund Airport to Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre (approximately 8 km): Coming out of the airport, turn right onto the national road that will take you right into Swakopmund onto Sam Nujoma Avenue. Turn right into Otavi that will lead you right up to Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre that is on Theo Ben Gurirab Avenue (previously Bahnhof Street). From Walvis Bay Airport to Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre (approximately 47 km): Coming out of the airport, you will drive on the national road to Swakopmund. You will go over the Swakopmund River bridge, you will stay on this road called Nathaniel Maxuilili, this will take you directly to the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre, (entrance to the Casino parking).
